Dr. Karima Chaabna is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Population Health Sciences and a Manager of Population Health Research at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q). With over a decade of experience, Dr. Chaabna has widely published on population health challenges in Qatar and the broader Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Her current research investigates the epidemiology of non-communicable diseases, healthy lifestyles, and aging populations, with the aim of informing public health decisions both locally and regionally. Dr. Chaabna is also dedicated to advancing evidence-based practice and public health education. She teaches research methodology, including biostatistics and systematic review methodology, and mentors students and research staff, supporting their academic and professional development. Dr. Chaabna holds a research master’s in Biostatistics and a PhD in Epidemiology from Claude Bernard University in Lyon, France. She conducted her PhD research at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (WHO/IARC), focusing on HIV- and hepatitis C-related cancers in North and Sub-Saharan Africa. She also completed her postdoctoral training at WCM-Q, focusing on hepatitis C epidemiology in the MENA region. Furthermore, she has received advanced training in systematic review methodology at Columbia University and the WHO/Cochrane/Cornell Summer Institute in the US.
