Prof. Ibrahim A. Janahi is a distinguished pediatric pulmonologist and researcher with a robust focus on respiratory health in children. His research primarily centers on asthma, cystic fibrosis, and primary ciliary dyskinesia, exploring both clinical and genetic dimensions to advance understanding and treatment of these conditions. Prof. Janahi leads pivotal studies on the genetic characterization of cystic fibrosis in the Qatari population, investigates the impact of obesity on asthma-related inflammation, and examines the interplay between gene and environmental factors, as well as the microbiome, in pediatric respiratory diseases. Through his role as a principal investigator in projects like the Sphingolipids in Childhood Asthma and Obesity study, he has made significant contributions to understanding the complex relationships impacting respiratory health. Additionally, his work in sleep-disordered breathing among pediatric populations has provided valuable insights, particularly in genetic syndromes such as Prader–Willi.
